Perrysburg, OH- Volleyball kicked off the 2025 season this past weekend at the Sony Lewis Classic with matches against Waubonsee Community College, Harper College, Cuyahoga Community College, and Danville Area Community College. The Owls fought hard but would go 0-4 on the weekend.
Game 1 on Friday against Waubonsee saw the Owls take the early advantage by winning the first set 25-23, which led to a highly contested second set but was dropped by a 27-25 final. The Owls would go onto lose the next two sets 25-20 and 25-15, losing 3-1 in the opening match on the season. Sophomore Emily Snay led the way for the Owls with 10 kills and 10 digs, along with Sophomore Brooklyn Poe who accounted for 25 assists in the match. Freshman Mattea Ball contributed with 19 digs of her own as well.
Facing off against Harper in game 2, the Owls were swept 3-0 but lost three tights sets, losing 25-21, 25-18, and 29-27. Snay followed up her game 1 performance with another 10 kills, followed by 6 digs. Poe continued to rack up the assists as she accounted for 27 in game 2, and Ball once again led the way with 10 digs.
Day 2 of the Sony Lewis Classic saw the Owls lose in straight sets to the Cuyahoga Triceratops and the Danville Area Jaguars. Sophomore Audrey Cole contributed with 9 kills against the Tri C's, while Poe added 11 assists, and Ball with 15 digs. Snay tallied 6 kills against the Jag's while Poe put up 10 assists and Ball finished off the weekend with 11 digs.
Volleyball will be back in action on Sunday, September 7th for a non-conference matchup against MCCAA North opponent Alpena Community College. Game is set for a 1pm start time.
