Volleyball wins 5 set thriller to kick off Eastern Conference play
Auburn Hills, MI- The Oakland Community College volleyball team played a thriller of game last night as they won a hard fought battle against Eastern Conference opponent Macomb Community College in 5 sets.
The Owls got off to a fast start as they grinded out the first two sets, winning 25-23 and 26-24, but would then go onto to lose 18-25 and 17-25 in sets three and four. Coming down to the fifth and final set, the Owls were able to pull away and capture the win by taking the last set 15-11. This win improves the Owls record to 3-5 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
The Owls got a big lift from their sophomore's in this one, including from outside hitter Emily Snay who accounted for 20 kills and 24 digs. Outside hitter Audrey Cole played a key role as well in the offensive attack against the Monarchs as she complied 16 kills of her own on the night. Brooklyn Poe came up big from the setter position as she contributed with 46 assists and 9 digs on the night. Freshman libero Mattea Ball continued to show her quality defensive skills as well as she added 17 digs to the stat sheet for the Owls on the night.
Volleyball will be back in action tomorrow night when they travel to St. Clair County Community College to take on the Skippers at 7pm.
