Sanborn, NY- It was a successful business trip for the OCC men's basketball team this past weekend at the Thunderwolves Thanksgiving Classic, as the men return home still undefeated after winning both contests against Jamestown CC and Niagara County CC.
The Owls handled business against the Jayhawks in game one on Saturday as they won 106-86, thanks to a fantastic performance from sophomore forward, Jordan Wright. Wright notched 27 points in the contest along with 12 rebounds, giving him a double-double on the afternoon. Wright also contributed with 4 assists and 3 blocks.
The Owls got great play from their guards once again, as sophomores Nick Speiser and Aaron Chapman both helped the winning cause on Saturday. Speiser scored 19 on the day, and added 5 rebounds and 4 assists to the stat line, while Chapman ended his afternoon with 17 points and 3 assists.
Sunday's much anticipated matchup against the Thunderwolves saw the Owls get their revenge after last season's loss, as the men secured the 94-89 win, keeping their unbeaten streak alive at seven games. In Sunday's afternoon tilt, Speiser stepped up big for the Owls with a double-double performance of 25 points and 10 assists, while also recording 7 rebounds. Wright almost had himself back-to-back double-double performances as he matched Speiser with 25 points on the day, while also cleaning up the boards with 9 rebounds and 4 blocks. Chapman added 18 points of his own and 6 assists in the win as well.
The Owls will have one more game before the Thanksgiving break when they host their first home game of the season on Wednesday, November 26th against Christian Community College at 5pm.
