Waterford, MI- The OCC softball team resumed conference play this afternoon as they hosted Henry Ford College in an afternoon double header as the regular season starts to inch closer towards the end. The Owls needed 8 innings to get the job done, but eventually came away with the 5-4 victory in game 1, and would go onto drop game 2 9-0 in 6 innings.
After today's contests, the Owls currently sit at 15-5 in conference play and 16-11 overall.
For game 1, sophomore pitcher Elyssa Frezza tossed all 8 innings for the Owls, giving up 4 runs on 12 hits while striking out 6 and walking 3 on the day. At the plate, sophomore third baseman Kamryn Kasak had a 2-hit performance that included an RBI double in the bottom of the 2nd inning.
In game 2, Kasak came through with another 2-hit performance for the Owls, while sophomore shortstop Elizabeth Pugh and sophomore catcher Sam Patrick both tacked on hits in the contest. On the mound, sophomore pitcher Katelynn Perry threw 2 1/3 innings, giving up 4 runs on 7 hits. Freshman Abby Stefanski came in relief and threw the remaining 3 2/3 innings, giving up another 4 runs on 9 hits.
The Owls return to action tomorrow as they'll be back at home to host Mott Community College. First pitch is set for 1pm.
