Owls Take Game 1 in Rain Shortened DH
Marysville, MI- The Oakland Community College softball team visited St. Clair County Community College yesterday afternoon, looking to continue the hot streak that the Owls are currently on, which includes 5 wins in their last 6 conference games to start the year.
Game 1 saw the Owls pull through in extra innings to secure the 8-6 win in ten innings, but were unfortunately unable to get game 2 in due to weather. This game will be made up on another date that is currently to be determined.
For the Owls, sophomore pitcher Elyssa Frezza turned in a gutsy performance in the circle as she threw all 10 innings while giving up 3 earned runs, 6 overall, as the Skippers managed to collect 12 total hits on the day. Frezza would go onto strikeout 5 and walk 6 batters as well.
Frezza was also a factor at the plate in this one, as she had a double and RBI single in the 10th inning that scored two runners for the Owls, breaking the tie. Sophomore first baseman Katelynn Perry and sophomore third baseman Kamryn Kasak both had 3-hit performances on the day, and both tallied key RBI's for the Owls in the winning effort.
Up next for the Owls are the Henry Ford Hawks when they'll visit them this Saturday, March 28th with game times scheduled for 1pm and 3pm.
