Softball Sweeps the DH over Macomb

Waterford, MI- It was a cold one but weather couldn't stop the Owls from playing today as the Oakland Community College softball team hosted the Macomb Community College Monarchs this afternoon for some midweek MCCAA competition.

Game one saw the Owls win in six innings due to the run rule, by a final score of 10-2, followed by a comeback win in game two with a final score of 11-7.

In game one, sophomore Elyssa Frezza continued her dominance in the circle by going all 6 innings and only giving up 1 earned run on 5 hits while striking out 3. Sophomore first baseman Katelynn Perry had a stellar day at the plate as she notched a 4 hit performance for the Owls while also driving in 2 runs. The big hit on the afternoon came from freshman Abby Stefanski who had a clutch pinch-hit homerun in the bottom of the 5^th inning to extend the Owls lead to 5. After that, the Owl offense never looked back.

Game two saw more of the same from Perry, as she collected 3 key RBI's for the Owls, while sophomore third baseman Kamryn Kasak contributed with 2 of her own. Sophomore shortstop Elizabeth Pugh, sophomore centerfielder Sianna Hill, and Stefanski all chipped in with multi-hit performances for the Owls on the day. Frezza made another appearance in the circle for the Owls, this time in relief where she only allowed 2 runs through 4 innings while striking out 5.

The Owls will be back in action on Thursday when they'll visit St. Clair Community College for a double header starting at 3pm.
