Owls travel to Upstate New York for the Thunderwolves Thanksgiving Classic
Auburn Hills, MI- The Oakland Community College men's basketball team is hitting the road this weekend as they prepare for the Thunderwolves Thanksgiving Classic in Sanborn, New York, where they'll face off against a familiar opponent.
During the weekend set of games, the Owls will go up against their first-round matchup from last year's NJCAA DII National Championship, the SUNY Niagara Thunderwolves. Dating back to last season, the Owls dropped a heartbreaker in overtime to the Thunderwolves 74-71, prompting a quick exit from the tournament. Fast forward to this year, the Owls will have a shot at redemption as they look to continue rolling in the first month of the season.
In their five games, the Owls are 5-0 with big wins over #14 Kalamazoo Valley at the time, and Bay College. They've outscored their opponents 445-399 while averaging 89 points a game and are shooting an excellent 54.7% from the floor. They come into this weekend as the #16 team in the country in the NJCAA DII men's basketball rankings after starting the year only receiving votes.
Before their rematch with the Thunderwolves on Sunday at 3pm, the Owls will go up against the Jamestown Community College Jayhawks on Saturday at 3pm to kick off the classic.
